When Google launched its own wireless service last year, Project Fi had two wireless partners: Sprint and T-Mobile. Now another carrier is joining the partner list.
Google has officially announced that U.S. Cellular, one of the United States’ largest regional carriers, is now a Project Fi partner. As Google points out, U.S. Cellular covers 23 states and offers 4G LTE service to 99% of its subscribers, both in urban and rural areas.
With the inclusion of U.S. Cellular, Project Fi gets a big boost in rural coverage, especially where Sprint and T-Mobile might not reach. Plus, with Project Fi’s technology swapping between a wireless carrier’s network and a Wi-Fi connection, subscribers should get an even more stable connection throughout the country.
