In the upcoming beta version of Chrome for Android, Google is implementing a few key changes, including the way the operating system handles web apps.
In the upcoming beta release, Chrome for Android will officially support Progressive Web Apps, which means that Android will offer better integration of web apps. When users add a Progressive Web App to their device, it will appear in their app drawer as well as in the Android settings. Long-pressing on a Progressive Web App icon will show the standard Android notification management controls, and those apps will also be able to receive incoming intents from other apps.
Google added that while the feature is being rolled out in Chrome for Android, the team plans on rolling out support for Progressive Web Apps in all browsers that are available on Android.
For folks that like to use web apps, this better integration and support should be a welcome addition.
