Lenovo is aiming for the casual crowd with the announcement of the Yoga A12, an Android device that’s more laptop than tablet. Despite tablet specs, attached is a large touch-sensitive keyboard.
The device features a 12.2-inch HD display, an Intel Atom X5 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, dual speakers, and 13 hours of battery life. It stays lightweight due to the omission of a regular keyboard, instead using something Lenovo calls the Halo keyboard.
The Halo keyboard is basically a flat touch panel instead of a regular keyboard, almost reminiscent of Microsoft’s first Touch Cover for the Surface. It will buzz with haptic feedback as you type and will learn from your typing habits so it gets more accurate as time goes on.
The Yoga A12 is definitely an intriguing product that may appeal to those who don’t need the full Windows experience on the go. An Android laptop may be enough for many, so this lightweight device could be a good fit. The $299 starting price helps, too! The Yoga A12 will go on sale on February 8.
