Samsung launches One UI beta test on the Galaxy S9

Earlier this month, Samsung announced the Galaxy F foldable phone, and alongside it, a brand new effort to reduce clutter on its smartphone user interface called One UI.

And now it looks like folks out there with a Galaxy S9 will be able to get their hands on One UI a little bit before everyone else, as long as they’re comfortable with running beta software. Samsung is opening up a beta program for One UI with Android 9.0 Pie for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. This will allow device owners to test out the software ahead of its public launch (which will be early next year), and let Samsung know how things are looking.

You can register for the new beta right on your device by launching the Samsung+ app on your device, or the Samsung Members app for folks outside of the United States. Once in there, look for the “Notices” option and then find the option to sign up for the beta. If the notice isn’t there just yet, keep an eye out because it may open up for you at a later date.

It’s a pretty big update, at around 1GB, so make sure you’ve got some time to download and install the beta software. Do you plan on trying out One UI on your Galaxy S9?
