If you thought there wasn’t enough hype leading up the opening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, think again. Google has just unveiled a new feature that will customize your Google apps and services to your liking. All you need to do is choose between the light side of the dark side. Google’s Star Wars customization are quite extensive, bringing unique designs to Android Wear, Chrome, Chromecast, Gmail, Inbox, Google Calendar, Google Maps, Google Now, Google Search, Google Translate, Waze, and YouTube on Android, iOS, Chromecast and desktop browsers.
To get started, just head over to google.com/starwars and choose which side of the Force you want to join. While each side has its merits, don’t spend too much time thinking it through. If you choose a side and later change your mind, just head back to the page and switch sides. Google has even implemented a tracking system, showing which side of the Force is more powerful at any given time. The dark side currently has the lead, but the scales could shift back and forth over the next few weeks. Since Google makes most of its money through advertisements, it’s no surprise that the company sold out to Disney to offer this unique experience to its users. While many will be debating which side of the Force they will choose, we’re more curious to find out how much money Google is making with this little stunt.
It’s obvious that Google’s chosen the dark side already, but we’re hoping you’ll leave us a comment to let us know which side if the Force you will choose.
