Virtual reality is still in its infancy, but we’re in a period of time where it’s about to blossom. With the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive coming soon and claiming to bring a new era of VR, we’re close to seeing the industry boom.
But Google Cardboard is currently a neat option for VR, and a cheap one at that. The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 4S will be released in 2016, and according to VentureBeat, the plastic box it ships in will double as a Google Cardboard-compatible VR headset. Though Cardboard headsets can be had for cheap, the fact that it’s included will allow people to learn about it and use it right out of the box… by using the box.
It’s definitely a great addition and should attract more buyers once they find out about it. Would such a feature influence your purchasing decision when it comes to buying a smartphone? Tell us in the comments!
