The Lenovo-owned Motorola is hard at work on another lineup of smartphones, this time focusing even more on the low-end for first-time smartphone buyers.
The new Moto C and Moto C Plus were first unveiled by VentureBeat today, ahead of an official announcement from Motorola. According to the publication’s sources, the Moto C phones are meant to attract first-time smartphone buyers, which means that while they might have low-end specs, they’ll probably also be outfitted with low-end price tags.
As far as specifications go, the report offers quite a bit to chew on. The Moto C will reportedly be offered in two variants, with one offering only 3G connectivity and the other packing 4G support. The Moto C will have a 5-inch display with a resolution of 854×480, and it will be running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
The 3G Moto C will have a 32-bit processor clocked at 1.3GHz from MediaTek under the hood and 1GB of RAM. There will be a 5-megapixel camera on the back and a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter. It will support a microSD card as well.
The 4G Moto C will have a 64-bit MediaTek processor clocked at 1.1GHz, 1GB of RAM, microSD card support, and either 8GB or 16GB of built-in storage. The battery in the Moto C will allegedly be clocked at 2350mAh.
Meanwhile, the Moto C Plus may offer a 64-bit MediaTek processor clocked at 1.1GHz, 16GB of built-in storage, microSD card support, an 8MP rear camera, a 2MP front-facing camera, and Android 7.0 Nougat. It will either have 1GB or 2GB of RAM, depending on region. Finally, the Moto C Plus battery will reportedly measure in at 4000mAh.
The release dates and price tags for these phones remain unknown. Whenever they do launch, both handsets will be available in a variety of colors.
