IFA 2017 has been a happening event all week long, but even as the festivities are winding down, Alcatel has announced two new smartphone series joining its lineup.
The IDOL 5 boasts a 5.2-inch 1080p display with 2.5D glass, a 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek processor, 3GB RAM, and 8GB of usable storage plus a microSD card slot. The camera is a major feature with a 13-megapixel rear sensor sporting an f/2.0 aperture, 1.12µm pixel size, and speedy hybrid autofocus. The front camera is a 5-megapixel shooter with a wide-angle lens. A European launch is set for Q4 2017.
The IDOL 5S resides within the same series, sporting the same specs with a few exceptions. The rear camera is a 12-megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, 1.25µm pixel size, and hybrid autofocus. The front camera is an 8-megapixel model a 1.4µm pixel size and a front flash. The IDOL 5S also sports two speakers and an intelligent sound system that can be customized through simple indicators. A European and Latin American launch is set for Q4 2017.

Alcatel’s A7 smartphone features a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 1.5Ghz octa-core processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, 16-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front-facing camera, fingerprint scanner, and a 4000mAh battery. The A7 will launch in Europe, latin America, the Middle East, and Africa in Q3 2017.
The Alcatel A7 XL features a larger 6-inch 1080p display and dual-camera setup with a 12-megapixel rear sensor paired with a 2-megapixel full frame rear sensor. The front-facing camera is a 5-megapixel sensor. Alcatel is launching the A7 XL throughout Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Europe in Q4 2017.
