Bugs, bugs, and more bugs. That’s been the story surrounding the launch of the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. While both devices are great, they’ve been struck with a nasty bout of software issues that have left Google scrambling to roll out fixes. One of the most prevalent is a memory management issue that aggressively closes background apps. This feature has caused problems such as music apps in use being closed when users take pictures, among other situations.
This quirk is frustrating, but Google has acknowledged the troubles and is working on a fix. Here’s what Google has said:
We’re rolling out a software update in the coming weeks to keep background apps from being prematurely closed in certain situations.Google
Hopefully the fix will smooth out these bugs. Unfortunately, 9to5Google received confirmation from Google that while the fix will be paired with a monthly security update, it won’t arrive in the November security update. That means that affected users will have to wait until at least December to be rid of the problem.
Have you been affected by these memory management issues on Pixel 3 devices?
