Samsung is more than likely going to announce its next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S10, in the early stages of next year. And a new rumor aims to shed some light on how the fingerprint sensor is going to work.
Courtesy of the Twitter account Ice Universe, we now have an exectation that Samsung is going to use an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor in the Galaxy S10. According to the account, the S10 “cancels the iris scanner” in favor of the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and that the reader is “enough to replace it”.
Ice Universe also states that the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is faster than optical in-display fingerprint readers and boasts a larger recognition area. The leak that the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and “new screen technology” in the Galaxy S10 will be exclusive to Samsung’s in early 2019.
All of that certainly sounds interesting! Rumor has it that Samsung is going to launch several different variants of the upcoming Galaxy S10, and it stands to reason that the high-end option will boast this ultrasonic fingerprint reader in its display.
