Last year Samsung showed off something called Linux on DeX. It allows for running a Linux distribution on your DeX system, which is just a supported Samsung smartphone with a compatible DeX dock. You hook the phone up to a monitor and peripherals using the dock and you can emulate a computer using Samsung’s software.
However, you’ll soon be able to actually run a desktop OS. Not only that, but if you build software on Linux, you can bring your Linux environment everywhere easier.
How effectively it works remains to be seen, but it’s definitely an interesting addition and may make the DeX docks a lot more useful to Samsung phone owners. You can now sign up for the private beta, which begins on November 12. The sign ups stop on November 14, so hit the source link and sign up!
