The Google Home isn’t a big device by any means, but it looks like Google wants to slim things down a bit for a new model.
As revealed by Droid-Life today, Google is hard at work on a Google Home Mini which, as the name suggests, reduces the hardware size and even adds a splash of a new color to the mix. As revealed in report, the Google Home Mini is quite a bit smaller than the original model and it will be available in Chalk, Charcoal, and Coral color schemes.
Google is reportedly set to announce the new smart speaker during its event on October 4, where it is expected the new Pixel smartphones will also be unveiled.
The Google Home Mini will still have Google Assistant on board and it will still allow users to check their schedule, ask questions, listen to the news, set reminders, and more. According to the report, Google is going to price the new mini smart speaker at just $49.
It looks like the base of the Google Home Mini will match the top part, too, with a dark base for the Coal color scheme, a white base for the Chalk, and a coral base for the Coral variant. It looks like Google is integrating lights on the top of the speaker, too, to keep users informed that they are utilizing the speaker.
While Google is reportedly set to announce the new Home Mini on October 4, when the device will become available is unknown.
