ZTE Axon Multy will reportedly feature a foldable dual-screen form factor

Many, many years ago, Kyocera launched a device called the Echo. It was a handset that folded in the middle and when closed, had a single touchscreen. When opened, it had a pair of displays that combine to form a tablet-like design.

The Echo didn’t live a long life, but the world of foldable smartphones is far from dead. VentureBeat reports that the manufacturer is working with AT&T to bring what will be called the “Axon Multy” to market. Like the Echo, it will feature a foldable design, but it will do so along its vertical axis (rather than the Echo’s horizontal). The two displays will be on the front and back, and each will feature a resolution of 1920×1080.

When the Axon Multy is opened up and the displays are placed together, they will combine to form a 6.8-inch display. The handset is expected to be pretty thin, measuring in below 10mm when it’s closed. As far as other specs go, the Axon Multy will reportedly feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, 20-megapixel camera, and a battery that’s said to measure in at 3120mAh.

The ZTE Axon Multy will apparently be priced at $650 when it launches for AT&T in October.
